Nestled in the charming town of Kuala Kubu Baru, Kedai Makanan Basikal Stopover is a unique culinary gem that perfectly blends traditional flavors with a welcoming local vibe. This Chinese Muslim café is a beloved stopover for travelers, especially those heading towards the scenic Fraser’s Hill, offering a refreshing twist on classic Malaysian dishes in a cozy and unpretentious setting.
Stepping inside, you’re greeted by an intimate dining atmosphere where the walls are adorned with bicycle-themed decor, echoing the café’s name and appeal to cycling enthusiasts. The limited seating fosters a warm and communal ambiance, making it evident why the regulars and loyalists keep coming back despite the growing competition nearby.
The menu is a delightful medley of local favorites infused with subtle, tantalizing flavors. The nasi lemak is a standout – the rice is perfectly fragrant, each grain beautifully infused with coconut milk, while the sambal offers a fiery kick that excites your palate without overwhelming it. Paired with crunchy fried anchovies, this dish is a nostalgic symphony of textures and tastes. The wah tan hor (flat rice noodles in egg gravy) might come across as simple, but its silky smoothness and comforting depth are surprisingly addictive.
For those seeking something a little different, the café’s take on Hainan Chicken Chop is impressive, boasting crispy skin and tender, juicy meat that strikes a delightful balance between crunch and softness. The shredded chicken hor fun, sporting generous prawns, offers a gentle broth that soothes while awakening the senses, though some might wish for a touch more richness.
One cannot overlook the charming banana puff — a comforting sweet treat that rounds out the meal with its flaky pastry and mellow, natural sweetness.
What truly elevates the dining experience here, beyond the flavorful dishes, is the friendly and attentive service. The staff are genuinely warm and welcoming, creating a relaxed environment that feels more like visiting a dear friend’s home than a restaurant. It’s also noteworthy that service charges are not passed to customers, reflecting the cafe’s honest and community-focused approach.
In a town that’s quickly growing its culinary scene, Kedai Makanan Basikal Stopover holds its own with authenticity, character, and a sincere dedication to quality. Whether you’re a local or a visitor taking a cycling break, this café invites you to slow down, savor bold Malaysian flavors, and immerse yourself in a genuine small-town charm.

A Chinese Muslim cafe. Glad to have found this unique cafe in this area. For those who are heading to Fraser's Hill, don't miss this place. We ordered nasi lemak, mee goreng, wah tan hor, carbonara, and banana puff. Below are my thoughts: 1) the nasi lemak is delicious. rice is fragrant and the sambal is spicy. The fried anchovies are crunchy. 2) the wah tan hor is simple but surprisingly you can taste the 'wok hei' 3) mee goreng is delicious too. It tastes like the fusion of Chinese and Malay style mee goreng 4) beside that, there are many varieties of puffs. The special ones are banana puff and yam puff. The banana puff tastes like banana pie, crunchy crust and the banana is awesome, love it. 5) the owner is very friendly and helpful. She helps us with the menu. 6) this cafe is uniquely decorated and its ambience brings you back to the old times. 7) prices are very reasonable I would highly recommend this cafe. Will definitely drop by again.

It's one of those places that will grow on you in small town KKB. When it was alone, now this place faces competition from others, similar, and probably cheaper food. Where seats were fiercely limited, others offer bigger sitting areas. Although it has changed hands, this outlet is still very popular among regulars and loyalists. Newcomers will find the place interesting, with lots of bicycles hanging from the ceiling and on the wall. Old world stuff, vehicle registration plates, advertisement boards, and others will be charming reminders of what the past offered. Plenty of Instagrammable stuff, perhaps even more that its already extensive menu. But no place is great without its bevy of staff and although small in number, they are quite fast and up to date on orders. You won't be kept waiting.

Came here for lunch on a public holiday. The restaurant was nearly full as it does not have a lot of tables. Hainan Chicken Chop (RM21) taste not bad. Skin quite crispy and tender meat. Shredded Chicken Hor Fun (RM12) taste not bad with two big prawn. Soup can be better. Crews and operators were all very friendly. They do not chsrge service tax.
